I’ll never stop telling people about you ♥️ I’ll never stop telling people about you ♥️ my dad, Professor Ifiok Otung, achieved the immigrant dream #nigerianexcellence #immigrant
Life lately. There is beauty even in the middle of Life lately. There is beauty even in the middle of grief. I love my little family beyond words. Thinking of my dad every single day 🤍
Daddy, I can’t believe you’re gone 💔 I can’t believe I’m writing a post like this, I’m utterly heartbroken. You have achieved so much but you had so much more life to live, so much more to give to the world. I really miss you. The plans we had together have now been swept away into the wind.

My dad was so charming, he brought life and laughter to every room he stepped into. He brought peace to every storm because of his unwavering faith in God. I remember all the times I’d feel stuck and just talking to my dad calmed me down.

My dad, Ifiok Otung, moved from Nigeria to the UK with nothing but a suitcase to do his PhD at Surrey University. He and my mum had 5 children under the age of 6 at a stage, and raised us all to become lawyers, doctors and engineers (the Nigerian dream). My dad went from his PhD to becoming a Senior Lecturer of Electronic Engineering at the University of South Wales, then a Professor at the same Univeristy. He published multiple academic books that are used at Oxford and Cambridge University.

Then he was appointed as the Director of the Centre for Space AI in Bradford and became Professor of Space Engineering at Bradford University. He collaborated with the likes of NASA at events and helped to spearhead sustainable commercial innovation in space.

Underpinning all of this was his love for Jesus and the ministry he carried out throughout his life. My dad led so many people to know Jesus.

Daddy I’m so glad you got to walk me down the aisle. I’m so glad we danced at my wedding. I’m so glad you got to see me become a mum and meet your grandson. I’m so glad because I had no idea just how much these things would mean to you.

My twin, thank you for giving me your fun personality and your smile that curls at the edges. Baby J has your same smile and it warms my heart. Thank you for giving me your drive, determination and work ethic. Thank you for loving and defending me so fiercely throughout my life.

If you want to read about my dad or leave a tribute I made a website for him which I’ve now used to collate his life’s work: www.professorifiokotung.com

I don’t usually post things like this but it’s I don’t usually post things like this but it’s important for me to speak out. If any public figure is not following the example that Jesus laid out, they cannot say they’re a Christian.

Us Christians really need to address how widespread Christian nationalism is. It’s not enough for us to dismiss them and say “they aren’t Christians”.

It’s a serious problem… too many Christians are terrorising marginalised groups and spreading so much hatred in God’s name.

And to the Christians who are supporting these individuals: it’s not okay to blindly support bigots and racists and ignore all of the harm they inflict on communities you do not belong to because there’s a political issue you agree with them on.

And for clarity, I do not believe the laws and policies that extremists are trying to push through are Christian values in the slightest.
